about

The Rokwell & Groom story goes a little like this: Individually they are Diger Rokwell and Felicity Groom, both WAMI winners in their fields with an expansive musical history unto themselves. Groom with her album Gossamer has toured with Australians top troubadours such as Tame Impala, Bob Evans and Little Birdy. And Diger Rokwell founder of The Community and beat making multi instrumentalist with six releases in his DIY catalogue.

But the duo project began almost accidentally with a suggestion of collaboration for one gig, Cut and Paste Collaborations. The pair decided to write tunes especially for this one show. Beats and sketches were sent to Groom via the inter-net and melodies and musings were sent back Rokwell even before they had even met. The set was almost complete before their first chance encounter in the middle of the weekly ultimate Frisbee match. The gig went pretty bloody well, and now they are a musical force that may play on opposite teams in the Frisbee games but are on the same team when it comes to this project and their debut release ‘New Parts’.

Their live performances have supported the likes of The Step Kids, Pond, Naik and playing various events including the wondrous Art Gallery of Western Australia for the Picasso to Warhol exhibition. Live they are an ethereal mix of sun kissed visuals, haunting vocals, floating synths, crunchy ethno beats and reverb guitar. Make sure you check out what this is all about.
